The FÜRSTENBERG porcelain manufactory was founded in 1747 in Fürstenberg an der Weser by Duke Charles I of Brunswick. Since then, it has been one of the oldest and most renowned porcelain manufacturers in Europe. The listed castle complex, built in the Weser Renaissance style, houses the manufactory’s own and only porcelain museum in northern Germany, the in-house shop “Porzellan im Schloss” (“Porcelain in the Castle”), and Café Lottine.
In the castle museum, both historical and contemporary collections document three centuries of porcelain culture from FÜRSTENBERG, complemented by changing special exhibitions on themes related to porcelain. This excursion can also be easily combined with a relaxing boat trip on the Weser.
