This city, of great touristic importance, forms the center of the charming Weserbergland, which stretches on both sides of the Weser River from its source in Hannoversch Münden to the Minden area. Particularly worth seeing is the historic old town of Hameln with its numerous buildings of the Weser Renaissance. In front of the Hochzeitshaus (Wedding House), the famous Pied Piper plays and the musical Rats are performed.

Between 1969 and 1993, Hameln was lovingly and extensively restored, setting a fine example of urban preservation. The city can be “ticked off” in just over two hours, if you are pressed for time. But those who stay longer will gain much more: the sight of magnificent sandstone and half-timbered houses from the 16th to 18th centuries, the feeling of walking in the footsteps of the Pied Piper, the quiet charm of the narrow alleys, and the pleasure of shopping in a historic setting – in short, the atmosphere of a city that will enchant you.
