Visit Marienburg Castle in Pattensen
Rising impressively about 20 km south of Hanover and 15 km northwest of Hildesheim, Marienburg Castle stands out with its unmistakable silhouette on the southwestern slope of the Marienberg. With its many towers, the castle can be seen from afar above the gentle hills of the Leine Valley.
The former summer residence of the House of Welf – originally a birthday gift from Hanoverian King George V to his wife Queen Marie – is considered one of the most important neo-Gothic monuments in Germany.
